In 2020, under the management of Bernice Lopez, the Mt. Pleasant Retail Store will receive the “Store of the Year Award”.
Goodwill Industries of Northeast Texas Inc. consists of 14 Retail Stores. Each one of our stores contributes to the overall success of Goodwill’s Mission to improve the quality of life for individuals through our life changing Workforce Programs designed for people with disabilities and/or disadvantages. The Store of the Year Award was created to recognize the store whose Manager and Employees have exhibited exceptional job performance and growth throughout that year. Having 14 extraordinary stores to choose from, the task of selecting the Store of the Year is very difficult.
The criteria used to evaluate our stores for this Award, includes providing exceptional customer service, plenty of teamwork, low employee turnover, along with continuous growth in sales and customer count over their previous year. The stores are also rated according to their visual appearance, including the organization, displays, merchandising, and cleanliness.
Achieving this honor requires a Manager and Store Employees that are committed to Goodwill’s Mission to employ and maintain a diverse workforce that provide opportunities for individuals with employment barriers. Store Employees must always demonstrate ethical work standards and participate in safe work practices. It requires a Manager that is passionate, energetic and has outstanding leadership skills. A Manager that motivates their team to work together toward a common goal. Bernice Lopez is that Manager. Her attitude is to have the very best store possible. She is a positive role model for her team and is committed to Goodwill’s Mission.
In 2020, under the management of Bernice, the Mt. Pleasant Store has met these criteria. She set goals for the store and has ensured all employees are aware of those goals and strives each day to accomplish them. The employees work together as a team to ensure our customers and donors receive the best service possible. They work as a team to maintain a store that is well-organized, pleasant, and inviting enough to keep our customers coming back. The balance between knowledgeable store employees and a customer friendly environment is part of what make the Mt. Pleasant Store so successful.
In 2020, Mt. Pleasant employees eagerly served a total of 30,628 customers. These customers spent an average of $15.72 each, resulting in sales revenue of $481,334.14.
Because of their contribution to the organization’s sales, their dedication and hard work, along with the continuous growth in all areas of the store, we are proud to present the 2020 Retail Store of the Year Award to Bernice Lopez and her Retail Team. Congratulations on a job well done!
